Feeling a little “Oprah-fied” as you manifest? Take a look at this article by Dick Ingersoll, courtesy of Dr. Neal Swanson.

Many people were inspired to learn about the Law of Attraction from the movie The Secret or by watching the teachers from The Secret on Oprah. Attracting money is quite possibly the most common desire, and yet it is one of the most difficult to do. However, the basic problems in attracting money are easy to get around. Once these problems are circumvented, attracting money is a breeze

The most common problem with attracting wealth is that people desperately require the money so they select money as their first manifestation goal. However, due to the need for money and the perpetual negative thinking surrounding money (“how will I ever pay that bill?”, “oh no, my power is going to be shut off”, “I’ll never pay back this student loan”), any attraction regarding money is in all likelihood set-back by every day negative thoughts and feelings. This causes a negative attraction which can postpone or even entirely wipe out your efforts to attract money

Manifestation and attraction does work when you take a confident, light-hearted and playful approach. Patience and separation are the keys to successful manifesting. Because money is such an emotional subject, it’s challenging for people to detach themselves from their attraction attempts long enough for the money to manifest. In the meantime they carry on thinking their regular thoughts (“I can’t afford these gas prices!”, “I wish I could afford a vacation”, “I’m not paid enough”) and these thoughts produce negative feelings towards money that push their desires away

The way to push through this is to begin smaller, and focus on things other than money. Start out by trying to manifest something simple, like a red rose. Beware, depending upon what you visualize, you may get an actual rose or you may wind up with a box of Kleenex that sports a big red rose on the side. Be as precise as you can in your imaginings, and always place yourself in the vision. See yourself smelling a rose, or whatever little desire you’re trying to manifest

Once you manifest your initial small thing, repeat this process two or three times. Each time, what you’ll find out is that your intentions are manifesting, and that will add faith to your technique. When you return to manifesting money, start by picking a minimal sum of money that you can believe in. Five hundred dollars, a thousand dollars, anything so long as you can in earnest conceive that you are able to achieve that money. Keep an unconcerned and playful state of mind – this will bring your manifestation into your life more speedily. Because you succeed more and more, your faith will advance, and your manifestations will materialize faster. Also you will develop a true realization that you’ll be able to manifest your intentions, and so you can set about working at attracting larger sums of money while knowing right along that you’ll deliver the goods. As faith develops and begins evolving into absolute knowns for you, your entire life will lighten up and you’ll feel the magic that’s in the universe around you

Best of luck and may you attract your every goal!

If you tried to count the many overused and misunderstood words getting a good workout in our lexicon of late, you might start with reality. Does a house full of dysfunctional and scene-stealing malcontents, or a “remote” island carefully dotted with cameras and make-up people really stoke your vision of what is real? Then there’s the feel good favorite, hero. The hunger for someone or something to look up to has driven us to hand out the hero moniker whenever we feel the need for a collective warm and fuzzy. Return a wallet and its cash content to the rightful owner and you could find yourself the subject of a human interest story on the 11 o’clock news, with anchor happy-talk that would be the verbal equivalent of confetti at the Lindbergh parade.

My pick for the term most likely to play the chameleon in the world of verbiage is evil. The mere mention of it can send a shiver up your spine. It just looks, well, evil. But getting a working definition of evil for 6- billion people is a challenge of Herculean proportions. What’s a planet to do?

You must admit evil travels well. It has tagged along on many a political campaign, spicing up speeches and propelling more than a few candidates to victory. It can fuel a crusade or a cold war. Evil can burn an effigy or a synagogue. When paired with its first cousin, Satan, evil takes on the identity of a mysterious force. A devil responsible for sinful, malevolent actions and the woes of the world. And evil has a face for television. The nightly news of many a country saturates viewers with images described as “evil”. Then, the offended country or people reply in a similar way.

When people believe themselves to be evil, they can withold self-love. After all, they insist, the spirit is good but the flesh is evil. But thoughts are things that act like magnets which attract like to us. This creates our experiences. So if we were to adjust our thinking about what is “evil” in our world of form, the changes brought about in our inner realm would be realized in our surroundings. Know that there’s a place inside where this thing called evil can’t touch you. When you hear news about violent thoughts and activities you can choose not to personalize it. You can make choices to have thoughts of peace. The more thoughts of peace you have the more you’ll experience peace.

It seems too simple to be true, especially in a society saturated with messages of scarcity, hostility, and competition. But according to a study by the multi-faith group One Percent, if only one per cent of a population focused on peace the collective consciousness would change. And there are lots of common, everyday ways to help you do this. Along with prayer and meditation you can spend time in nature. Tend to that garden you’ve been neglecting. Cultivate a feeling of joy or at least a sense of humor. Start a journal.

At this point you might be thinking that one person can’t make a difference. But, the ripple effect of person, to family, to community, to country will begin to change priorities. Persistent individuals have been able to turn our attention toward caring for our environment. This has produced more fuel-efficient vehicles, cleaner water, and better ways to heat and cool homes. Take this thoughtfulness beyond the home and you get the attention of leaders. Imagine those leaders putting their own thought energy behind ways to reduce the number of machines and weapons which inflate hostilities. Looking behind the evil label could cool down thoughts of hatred and harm. What would emerge is a spirit of cooperation.

More than two thousand years ago Lao Tzu was credited with writing in the Tao Te Ching: “If only the ruler and his people would refrain from harming each other, all the benefits of life would accumulate in the kingdom”. Let’s give some thought to changing our harmful ways. It’s a devil of a time when we don’t.
