Now And Denim

June 24, 2009

On the current Chi For Yourself I replaced Kami Gray’s “Denin Diet” interview with a replay of last year’s Wayne Dyer account of re-connecting with his father..This may seem like an odd Father’s Day show, what with all the necktie and golf club-type tributes to dads you usually see. But, when I said it resonated with me I meant it. Having a strained relationship with your father can hurt you or help you- it’s your choice. I learned plenty from those years with my father. Like Wayne, I opted to use the experience as a great lesson.

The July edition of Chi For Yourself is taking shape. It deals with the subject of Christianity’s relationship to Yoga. My guest has lived on “both sides of the fence” so to speak. He’s lived and practiced as both a Christian and a Hindu monk (’didn’t think you could do that!) and he brings insights that will inform you and maybe clear up some misunderstandings in these areas.

Thought: Another sports hero is prepping to come back from a performance drug suspension. All Hail!! Now our team can really beat up on your team!

I’m reminded of the acronym B.I.R.Ging..or Basking in Reflected Glory.

Be your own winning team..think consciously..live consciously..

Happy “Chi-nco” de Mayo!

May 5, 2009

In my part of the world May 5th is celebrated for the sake of celebration. The Mexican community reminds you that the 5th of May is really a minor holiday on Mexico’s radar screen. But the brewers insist that it’s time to party like it’s 1999..TV commercials will tell you who gets the last word in that department.

The interview with Kami Gray is in the “can”, and at first I wasn’t sure it would ever get to that point.

I mean, no manly-man reads a book like The Denim Diet, right?! But, I gotta say Kami was a swell interview, and her humor and knowledge come accross in a book that really has something to say to everyone.

Enjoy your day!

Think “Middle Least”

April 25, 2009

As I write this post I’m listening to a talk show- something I rarely do, but I like the host. Used to have my own radio talk show once upon a time..

But, today’s show is all about predictions..Growing threats in Pakistan..an Islamic state about to be formed there..all out chaos…nukes flying around the region, and….and….and….

Time for a thought review. Where is your attention going today? Are you at war with your neighbor..a co-worker..a family member..anyone who doesn’t look or sound like you?

Let’s take a deep breath together, and remember where our thoughts can take us. What the Law of Attraction says, in a nutshell, is that “like attracts like”. This means that the things you think about the most are the things you will have in your life.

On a completely un-related matter: You may have noticed some strange things on the Chi For Yourself website. Mainly, images and text that seem to have totally or partially disappeared. A real smart tech-type told me we may have been Confickered on April 1st.

After a couple of chats with the webhostoids and a tech ticket or two we seem to have things back to where we want them.

The next offering of Chi For Yourself is taking shape-more on that later…

HAPPY EARTH DAY!!

Re-fi fo fum

April 3, 2009

As I write this I have only moments ago faxed my 5-quadrillionth item to the folks who promise me “great rates” on a re-finance..that should keep the mortgage monster away!

Things I Found on the Way to Finding Something Else

Being a dedicated green tea drinker I was pleased though not really surprised to hear that the brew was shown to help couples who are trying to conceive. Shoot me an email and I’ll give you the particulars- chiforyourself@gmail.com

I mentioned during the Bernie Siegel interview edition of Chi For Yourself that the show will be heard/seen on blubrry.com
No, it’s not a misspelling. I’ve been scouting the blubrry site for a while, and I’ve decided that they can help us a lot as we get our message out there. I do need to get up to speed with their system and if you see references to blubrry or buttons or badges or whatever, you’ll know what it’s about. Of course you can still find the show on the website- which reminds me to remind you to listen for the homespun humor and healing dished up by Bernie Siegel on the current edition of Chi For Yourself.

Be well..

The Doctor Is In

March 22, 2009

I know it’s all about living in the moment, but I can’t resist the urge to look ahead to the next couple of months. For starters, in April Chi For Yourself gets a “house call” from Dr. Bernie Siegel. The good doctor will talk about his latest book, and spin his mixture of humor and calming influence to reassure us during a stressful time.

I’m also working to land a guest who is a world renowned voice in an area that has become a sort of “pet subject” of mine. More on that later..

Speaking of stressful times, I trust you’re keeping your thoughts focused on abundance and away from fear and scarcity. I know, I know..jobs are disappearing and forclosures are nearing and….just remember something that I’ve been told a number of times over the years- ‘where attention goes, energy flows’!

As a PS to these comments I leave a portion of a verse from the Tao Te Ching…hint- it’s directed toward Washington DC..

The TAO TE-CHING of Lao-Tse based on the translation of James Legge.

Adapted and Abridged

Chapter 66

The wise ruler is like a river
Flowing through a valley
Fed by many mountain streams
By receiving all that is higher
The river like a wise ruler assumes the lower place

And so the people feel no weight upon them
The ruler is the ruler
Yet injures none

Such a leader is exalted in the world    (italics mine)

Chakra And Awe

March 6, 2009

by Gio

The interview with Deborah Shea is up and running. You’ll find it on the website’s “audio” page. Deborah made an effective presentation at the Learning Light Foundation, and she stayed on afterward for consultations with audience members. Her website and phone number are listed on the audio page, and if you’re in Southern California know that she’s based in Corona del Mar.

Now, I don’t want to rant, but….I’m in the middle of a home re-finance and I admit I’m feeling a little stressed-out. My lender is professional, even friendly! But, methinks the old tandem of fear and scarcity are trying to muscle in and gain control, kinda’ like they did in my younger years. But, don’t worry kids- I’ll have those two scoundrels on the run in no time, right??

Enjoy your weekend..

Peace,
G

In Like a Lion..(?)(!)

March 2, 2009

by Gio

The month of March couldn’t have begun with a prettier day! And it’s been a few days, pretty and otherwise, since we’ve met up on these pages. Mea culpa..I’m going to haul out the old work excuse here though I must say it’s been a busy few weeks at Chi For Yourself.

When you go to the website you’re going to find a new addition. That would be the Yoga page. I’m a newbie when it comes to Yoga but I’ve picked what I think will be a great video to accompany a beginner’s practice. Sara and her mates will take you through the paces in a way that even us tenderfoot types can handle.

Many thanks for the good reaction to the Echo Bodine interview. And, on “Chi-Vee” right now is more good stuff. In the afterglow of the Oscars we’re featuring a message from Spiritual Cinema Circle’s Stephen Simon. And on the audio side I’m putting the finishing touches on the interview with Deborah Shea. She’ll she’ll some light on the practice of Chakra balancing and how she helps her clients here in the Orange County area.

I’m hearing tentative go signals from a couple of well-known authors who are out with new books. So, the stars may be aligning for more good stuff in the pipeline.

‘Looks like breaktime is over. Got a date in the “editing suite”. I’m excited at the prospects as we head into this young year…

Do I hear an Echo?

January 5, 2009

by Gio

I’ve been hearing Echo for the past few days since I’ve been editing the Chi For Yourself  interview with Echo Bodine. I’m happy to say that the show is “in the can”, as my radio friends in another lifetime liked to say.

Her new book (”Look For the Good and You’ll Find God: The Spiritual Journey of a Psychic and Healer” from New World Library) takes you through the life of a “reluctant” psychic who was living a different reality when the universe paid her a visit. I found the book most enjoyable, and our interview even more so. Give it a listen!

…oh, and Happy New Year!

…and all the fixin’s!..

by Gio

It’s Thanksgiving eve and as folks in the USA are wrapping up their turkey day preparations, I want to express a little gratitude of my own. I have lots to be thankful for-family, health, a chance to live in the most beautiful place in the world (a bit of bias here!). I’m also grateful for- you. Your participation in this concept called “Chi For Yourself” has been most gratifying. The show/website are still in their infancy, and I intend to continue bringing you the highest energy people, places, and ideas to inspire you on the consciousness path. If Thanksgiving is a holiday where you are, enjoy! If not, take a moment to give thanks in your own way. It’s one of the highest energies, and, by universal law, will be reflected back to you.

Here’s an article to get the gratitude “muscles” working. All the best to you this Thanksgiving!

5 Ways to Create Joy During The Holidays -Oshana Himot, MBA, CHT

by Oshana Himo
The holidays are a special time to be together with our family and friends. They can also be a time of introspection….a time to reflect on what is most important to us in our life.

For some people, the holidays become rushed….filled with too many social events and not enough time to rest and rejuvenate. We feel out of balance. By taking a little time to ourselves, we can enjoy the holidays even more.

Here are five easy ways to help you have a memorable holiday season. They are:

1. Act on the Gentle Nudges Coming From Your Heart. 2. Ask Your Body What It Needs. 3. Slow Down. 4. Say “No” When Something Doesn’t Feel Right to You. 5. Celebrate Your Life.

This article shares how you can use these simple ideas to enrich your holiday season.

Act on the Gentle Nudges Coming From Your Heart

When you have a feeling that prompts you to do something in your life, it may be an idea that brings joy to you and to others. We often ignore our feelings to take action or try something new because we are too busy or we are afraid of what other people will think.

One way to act on these feelings is to write them down. By carrying a notepad or journal with you, you can write down the insights that come to you during the day.

Having a regular time set aside to work with them each week helps you take new actions that can bring many wonderful opportunities into your life.

The holidays are a perfect time to reflect on what is important to you and to receive insights which can change your life. It can also be a time to let go of what is no longer working so that you can make room for the new. These help to make the next year of your life a joyful one.

Ask Your Body What It Needs

Your body is constantly giving you messages about what it needs to be healthy and in balance. This is especially important during the holidays.

Let’s say that you are with your family at your brother’s house on Christmas day. Everyone is in the kitchen preparing dinner together. You have the desire to take a walk outside.

The walk refreshes you and when you return, you have even more joy and feelings of wellbeing to share with your family and loved ones.

Giving our body what it needs during the holidays can be as simple as taking a walk or a short rest. This helps us to stay in balance and enjoy our family and friends even more.

Slow Down

With many holiday events on your calendar, you may want to give yourself a day to rest and rejuvenate. What would you enjoy doing? Would you like to hike, read your favorite book or receive a massage?

Say “No” When Something Doesn’t Feel Right To You

When your calendar is filled with more social events than you want to attend, you may want to say “no” to some of them.

If you are afraid that you will hurt someone’s feelings, you can let them know that you are taking some time for yourself during the holidays and will give them a call in the New Year.

Celebrate Your Life

Being grateful for what we have is one way to celebrate our life. It also helps us to receive more of the things which brings us joy.

Another way to celebrate is to keep a holiday journal and write down what we are grateful for and what we would like to create in the New Year.

Taking action on what we desire is an active way to be grateful. It helps us to accomplish our goals more easily and this brings joy to ourselves and to others.

Practicing these simple ideas helps you to have joy and balance during the holidays. You can also use them throughout the year to create continuing momentum for your activities and wellbeing in your life.
